What a movie! And the actors: Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale were amazing. Needless to say, my sister and I understood long before Hugh that Christian had a twin brother (aren't there any twin actors that can actually play twins, and can't there be any normal twins in movies?). It helps that we are twins, or that we saw that "Breaking the Magician's Code" show on Fox. When I say watch, I mean, we fell asleep, but have a vague recollection of an egg, twin ladies, and fishing wire. Anyways, the movie was pretty good. The magicians are so obsessed with their art that they are willing to sacrifice everything to create the perfect illusion. From mere rivals, they become obsessed with each other (like Olivia Wenscombe says to Alfred Borden: "You two deserve each other.") and enemies, and just want to take revenge on each other. Is their art worth sacrificing other people's lives? Well, it seems like it is considering the body count at the end of the movie. Despite its tragic end, the movie has some very humorous moments (Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale sporting wigs and false beards to spy on each other, and Alfred Borden mocking The Great Danton during his show, Hugh Jackman playing a drunken out-of-work actor...).

Well, it is a great movie with great performances by Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale.

J'ai trouvé ce film très bon. Hugh Jackman et Christian Bale étaient excellents dans leur rôle de magiciens obsédés par leur art. Leur rivalité menace la vie des gens qui les entourent, mais ils sont prêts à tout pour prouver leur supériorité et réaliser le tour parfait. Chacun tente d'anticiper les actions de l'autre, ce qui ajoute un peu de suspense au film. Ma soeur et moi avions deviné assez tôt qu'Alfred Borden (comme Lizzie ?) avait un frère jumeau, mais ça ne nous a pas empêché d'apprécier le film. Même si les jumeaux névrosés que l'on trouve dans tous les films, ça commence à bien faire. Sinon, j'ai déjà dit que Christian Bale et Hugh Jackman étaient excellents ?

Tu l'as dit. Quelle obsession affreuse ! Allez, on peut pardonner à Christian Bale d'avoir joué des jumeaux. Il est tellement beau. Vivement le prochain Batman !
