Kissing Babies at the Piggly Wiggly (Robert Dalby)
With the help of the Nitwitts and newly weds Laurie and Powell, Mr. Choppy, former owner of the Second Creek Piggly Wiggly runs for mayor.
Once again, a sweet book that I read very quickly (compared to my "performances" lately). This book is the sequel to Waltzing at the Piggly Wiggly, and is also very charming. We get to know the Nitwitts a little better, and learn more about their families. However, I did not care much for the African American characters in the book. Either they have their hands out, or they are good honest hard working people. Not much character psychology there. They don't seem to be really part of the community. But maybe, it is actually the way it is in rural Mississippi, where blacks and whites don't really mingle.
