Dolores Claiborne (Stephen King)

J'ai lu un Stephen King. J'ai lu un Stephen King. Enfin ! Ca ne m'avait pas manqué, mais je me suis dit que c'était quand même une lacune qu'il fallait combler. Ah bon ? J'ai vu plusieurs films basés sur des livres de Stephen King : Carrie, The Shining, Misery (wasn't it something?), Shawshank Redemption (mon préféré) entre autres, j'en ai donc choisi un dont je n'avais pas vu l'adaptation. Je me souviens que j'avais une bonne raison pour choisir le thriller psychologique Dolores Claiborne (dont je n'avais jamais entendu parler), mais je ne m'en souviens plus (peut-être une marque de vêtements...). Mais j'ai lu un Stephen King.

As the story begins, Dolores Claiborne is in a police interrogation and wants to make clear to the police that she did not kill her wealthy employer, an elderly woman named Vera Donovan whom she has looked after for years. She does, however, confess to the murder of her husband, Joe St. George, almost 30 years before. Her "confession" develops into the story of her life, her troubled marriage, and her relationship with her employer.

Unlike many other works by King, there is little focus on the supernatural; the only such event in the book is a vision.

Je dois dire que j'ai bien aimé. J'ai trouvé quelques longueurs, explicables du fait qu'il s'agit d'une confession, mais dans l'ensemble, j'ai trouvé l'histoire bien construite. Rien d'original, il faut le dire ; avec une belle fin conte de fées, mais je ne regrette pas mon choix. Je pense que je lirai un autre Stephen King : probablement Different Seasons, puisque ce recueil contient Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption et The Body dont on a tiré Stand by Me (un autre film que j'avais beaucoup aimé). Voilà, lacune comblée (remarquez que la couverture du livre représente un puits).
