The Swans of Fifth Avenue (Melanie Benjamin)

Ma sœur m'avait réservé ce livre à la bibliothèque. La couverture lui rappelait Crazy Rich Asians. Et bien, ce n'est pas la même chose. J'ai abandonné  à la page 46 (j'avais le bouquin en gros caractères, ça fait plus de pages).

Le roman évoque le scandale causé par l'article La Côte Basque 1965 de Truman Capote, publié dans Esquire. Idée intéressante, je vous l'accorde. Mais c'est présenté de manière tellement « nous les riches avec nos vies superbes » que j'en ai eu vite assez. Pas mon truc.

Je n'ai jamais entendu parler de ce livre, mais effectivement, le prétexte de départ et la présence de Capote, m'auraient moi aussi tenté... Je garde tout de même ce titre sous le coude, histoire d'y jeter un oeil curieux (mais rapide) si jamais je venais à croiser son chemin.

PS : je suis actuellement en passe de terminer "We love you, Charlie Freeman", de Kaitlyn Greenidge. Je ne sais pas si tu en as entendu parler par chez toi. Je le trouve très intéressant de par les questionnements qu'il soulève, Et, te sachant souvent critique et intraitable sur les questions de race, je me demande souvent au fil de ma lecture ce que toi tu en penserais...
